Parmalee to expand unit for talented and gifted

-A A +A

Parmalee Elementary, which is designated as a gifted-and-talented school, has added another section with plans to eventually grow the program so there will be separate classes at each grade level, according to principal Ingrid Mielke.

In past years, two grades are put together into one class with one gifted-and-talented teacher.

In addition, the school is incorporating research from John Hattie, director of the Melbourne Educational Research Institute, into teaching. The research is called Visible Learning, and it looks at how teachers can teach more effectively.
