    No guns for teachers

    Why not arm teachers with pepper spray? It’s not as dangerous as a gun, easy to hit the target and readily accessible if kept on one’s person. A little Internet research and training might be in order. Teachers sign up to teach children, not to shoot people.

    There are alternatives to cutting ‘entitlements’

    I’m tired of the way Republicans in Congress always insist on cutting “entitlement” programs for people who can least afford it.
    A mere 5 percent tax increase for the wealthy does not equate to cutting funding to programs that for millions of Americans are lifelines to basic survival.

    SRC’s Holiday Food Drive a success, thanks to local supporters

    The Seniors’ Resource Center in Evergreen recently completed its annual Holiday Food Drive. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of local volunteers, schools, churches and groups, 144 holiday food boxes were delivered to seniors and adults with disabilities in the Evergreen, Conifer, Idaho Springs and Gilpin County communities.
