    Margaret Virginia Bentley, born June 6, 1920, in Louisiana, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 9, 2012, in Spokane, Wash.

    Ann Z. Lax, 86, died May 6, 2012, at her home of 46 years near Aspen Park.
    Her parents were Arpad and Nell. Her husband, Harry E. Lax, preceded her in death.
    She is survived by daughters Pam and Sandy (J.R.); and grandsons Randy and Ryan.
    No memorial service is planned.

  • Myrtle Beeler, 91

    Myrtle Beeler, 91, of Conifer passed away April 9, 2012.
    Myrtle Blanche (Fields) Beeler was born April 17, 1920, in Pleasant Park, Colo.
    She married John Lloyd Beeler Sr. on Sept. 8, 1941. They lived a happy and eventful life until his early passing on May 6, 1974.
    Myrtle is survived by two children, John (Phyllis) Beeler and Kitty Mae (Peter) Orlowski; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a creative homemaker (a quilter), an owner of Fields Trading Post, and a 27-year veteran bus driver for the Jefferson County School District.

    Our cherished sister and friend Autumn Joy Cougar passed away peacefully at her home in Indian Hills on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

    Friends are invited to gather at the Indian Hills Community Center on Saturday, April 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate Autumn’s life. Dress casually in your favorite island wear, and bring your memories of AJ to share.

  • Warren Jack O’Brien

    Warren Jack, “WJ or Jack,” O’Brien passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, just prior to his 87th birthday.
    The longtime Colorado and Conifer resident grew up in Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs, and graduated from Colorado College after enlisting in the Marines at age 17 and serving in World War II. He landed on Tarawa and Okinawa, and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart on Saipan.

    Gary Wilson Knowles, formerly of Conifer, died peacefully at his Thornton nursing home on Feb. 4, 2012, at the age of 63.

     

  • Delano ‘Del’ Francis English

    Delano “Del” Francis English died at his home on Jan. 25, 2012, at the age of 76.
    He was born in Alliance, Neb., on May 31, 1935, the son of Teresa and Roy English. He received his bachelor’s degree from Long Beach State in California and served in the U.S. Air Force. Del dedicated his career to being a safety advocate, protecting workers across the country and abroad as a corporate safety engineer.

    winter of 1929, and was the daughter of Pennsylvania coal miner Walter
    M. (and Elsie) Jordan.
